'Brownfields' is focus of seminar
The Brownfields Initiatives, a package of land development
legislation signed by Gov. Thomas R. Carper in mid-July, is the
subject of a one-day seminar being presented on Thursday, Sept. 14, by
the Division of Continuing Education.
"Brownfields: An Economic, Regulatory and Technical Approach to
Development" will be held from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. in Arsht Hall on the
Wilmington Campus.
The program will provide a forum to discuss the legislation that
provides incentives for the development and use of abandoned and
derelict industrial and manufacturing sites-termed "brownfields."
The goal of the legislation is to limit the development of
greenfields, farms and open lands by encouraging industry to locate on
brownfields, which are typically closer to utilities, employment bases
and transportation routes.
The seminar addresses a battery of questions raised by the new
legislation.
Registration fee is $140 per person, with lunch and materials
included. Pre-registration is required, and group discount rates are
available.
For more information, call 831-4271, fax requests to 831-1077 or
