Meeting on Sept. 13 to focus on '95 Homecoming planning
Fun and games, plus school spirit, will mark Homecoming 1995,
according to Chris Cook, coordinator of Greek affairs. who is working
with the Office of Alumni and University Relations and others to plan
festivities.
"The goal of the Homecoming Planning Committee is to create a
University-wide celebration involving students, alumni and friends,"
said Robert Davis, director of Alumni and University Relations.
Homecoming activities for students, alumni and the University
community will include a carnival from 2-5 p.m., Oct. 13, at
Harrington Beach, followed by a pep rally and bonfire. A banner
competition also is planned.
To kick off Homecoming '95, a meeting for students and student
groups interested in being part of the action of the weekend's special
activities is scheduled at 3 p.m., Sept. 13, in the Rodney Room of the
Perkins Student Center.
"We are looking for enthusiastic and involved students and
student groups to help us make this Homecoming exciting and memorable.
Our goal is to make Homecoming '95 a participatory event involving all
students, alumni and others in the University community. We urge
groups to send representatives to the meeting and to take an active
part and show their UD spirit during Homecoming," Cook said.
This year, in response to student suggestions, UD Spirit
Ambassadors will be chosen, replacing the Homecoming king and queen.
UD Spirit Ambassadors will be students who are selected on the
basis of their involvement in student organizations or in volunteer
work. The selection process will involve the entire University
community.
Students who receive the honor will serve as ambassadors until
their graduation, be members of an ad hoc committee to the president
and also will be invited to participate in other University events,
such as Parents Day
One or two outstanding UD Spirit Ambassadors will be selected to
receive the T. Muncy Keith Spirit Award, a $1,000 scholarship honoring
the alumnus and honorary lifetime member of the Alumni Association
Board of Directors, who graduated in 1922.
Those chosen to serve as UD Spirit Ambassadors will be announced
at the pep rally, and the T. Muncy Keith Award announcement will be
made at half time of the Delaware/Richmond football game.

center; Rob Longwell-Grice, residence life; and Nina Harris,
