'Lunch and Learn' workshops
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is offering several
"Lunch and Learn" programs to University employees to help them
maintain a healthy physical, mental and emotional lifestyle.
All workshops, except "Financial Planning," will be held from
noon-1 p.m. Registration is required.
The fall schedule includes:
"It Is the Size of a Walnut and Can Kill You," a program
presented by an American Cancer Society volunteer on prostate cancer
and its detection and cure, is scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 13,
Collins Room, Perkins Student Center. Deadline: Sept. 11.
"Women's Financial Information," a seven-session workshop
designed to help men, women and couples make financial decisions, will
provide details on getting organized, building financial security,
creating a budget, conducting financial inventories, investing and
planning for retirement.
This will be offered by Cooperative Extension and the American
Association of Retired Persons from 6:30-9 p.m., Mondays, Oct. 2-Nov.
13, Cooperative Extension office, 910 South Chapel St., Newark.
Deadline: Sept. 15.
"Caring for Older Family Members" is a two-part series that
includes information on support networks, financial, legal and housing
concerns and services for older family members. Part One will be
conducted by representatives from the Delaware Division of Aging on
Wednesday, Sept. 27, Kirkwood Room, Perkins Student Center. Deadline:
Sept. 25. Part Two will feature a speaker from the Delaware Volunteer
Legal Services, on Wednesday, Oct. 11, in the Collins Room, Perkins
Student Center. Deadline: Oct. 9.
"Balancing Act" is a two-part program presented by Donna Tuites,
women's affairs, designed to help alleviate some of the pressures
associated with the competitive demands when one balances professional
and family life. Part One will focus on identifying personal
priorities and clarifying values on Wednesday, Oct. 25, in the
Kirkwood Room, Perkins Student Center. Deadline: Oct. 23.
Part Two will provide information on achieving those priorities
by using coping responses and developing support networks on
Wednesday, Nov. 8, in the Collins Room, Perkins Student Center.
Deadline: Nov. 6.
"FSAP and You" is an opportunity to meet the staff of the Faculty
and Staff Assistance Program and learn more about benefits and
confidential services available to University employees on Wednesday,
Nov. 29, in the Collins Room, Perkins Student Center. Deadline: Nov.
27.
"Vacation Planning" will provide advice on planning for trips,
asking the right questions, getting the best values and avoiding
bargain vacation pitfalls. Barbara Patterson of All Around Travel will
present the program on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in the Kirkwood Room,
Perkins Student Center. Deadline: Dec. 11.
