Employee computer purchase offers new equipment
Since Sept. 11, when the University opened a special computer
purchase program, more than 250 employees have made purchases, most of
complete systems, and another 150 have called to establish their
eligibility to participate.
The program is open to eligible employees until March 15.
Gateway and Apple systems are the most popular thus far, followed
by Compaq, Zenith, Toshiba and Hewlett Packard systems.
The program offers:
* Interest-free payroll deduction, with installment payments
for up to 36 months, depending upon the amount of purchase,
ranging from $250 to $5,000;
* A 5 percent discount for those who decide to pay for their
equipment in full at the time of purchase;
* The latest in computer hardware, software, new systems and
existing system upgrades, all to be purchased from the
University's Computer Warehouse; and
* Pre-purchase consulting assistance from the Technology
Solutions Center (formerly the Microcomputing Resource
Center) staff in 002 Smith Hall, or e-mail to tsc-
info@udel.edu.
According to Leila Lyons, User Services, "We have an outstanding
opportunity to use payroll deduction to finance an interest-free
purchase of modern equipment, and have six weeks remaining to place an
order. Staff in the Technology Solutions Center can provide advice,
and staff in the Computer Warehouse are ready to expedite your order."
Employees interested in making a purchase under the program must
establish their eligibility by calling 831-3266.
