Workshops on diversity, conflict management set

     Two series of workshops on "Welcoming and Appreciating Diversity"
and "Conflict Management: Finding the Common Ground" are being
offered.
     The diversity workshops show how to identify misinformation about
ourselves and others, how to heal emotional wounds resulting from
mistreatment and how to reclaim the power to challenge all forms of
discrimination. Sessions, to be conducted in the Perkins Student
Center, are scheduled as follows:
        * 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 10, Blue and Gold Room;
        * 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, Collins Room;
        * 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, Kirkwood Room
        * 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, March 1, Collins Room;
        * 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday, March 3, Collins Room;
        * 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Monday, March 4, Collins Room;

        * 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, Collins Room.

     A session is planned on Wednesday, July 17, in the new student
center.
     The conflict management sessions, entitled "Finding the Common
Ground," offer information on finding common areas of agreement and
dealing with difficult people and handling confrontational situations.
     The principles may be applied to a traditional office work
setting, but they also are appropriate for faculty and teaching
assistants who are involved in group projects in the classroom.
     Programs are scheduled in the Perkins Student Center:
        * 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16, in the Collins Room;
        * 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Thursday, March 14, in the Collins Room;
        * 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, in the Blue and Gold
          Room; and
