Weigh to go!

     Twenty-five employees initially participated in Weigh-to-Go, a
seven-week, worksite education program designed to encourage employees
to maintain their weight over the holiday season.
According to coordinator Marianne Carter, nutritionist in
dietetics, three packets of information were sent to employees filled
with tips on handling stress, healthy recipes and party preparation.
The goal of the program was to help participants to maintain
their weigh-in, starting weight, plus or minus a pound or two, over
the holidays.
According to Carter, 18 employees weighed out and, of those, 15
met their goal. Three of the returning participants gained weight.
"There was a lot of positive feedback," Carter said, "and we plan
to run the program again next year."
All 15 participants who met their goal received a prize, such as
coupons for a TCBY dessert or a cup of coffee and muffin from Jam 'N'
and Java or a subscription to Smart Eating...in the First State.
