Safety corner

     It's never too late to make New Year's resolutions about safety.
To help lead a safer life in 1996, here are 10 reminders from the
Delaware Safety Council:

   * Always wear your seat belt, and make sure other passengers are
     buckled up.
   * Place a list of current emergency numbers at every telephone in
     your home.
   * Teach children never to touch a gun and to treat all guns as if
     they were loaded.
   * Throw away outdated medicines.
   * Read the owner's manuals for all household appliances and follow
     safety instructions.
   * Practice using your legs to lift heavy loads instead of your
     back, and squat instead of bending over.
   * Conduct a fire drill at home with your family.
   * Cross streets at corners instead of darting between parked cars.
   * Use a ladder instead of standing on boxes or chairs to reach out-
     of-the-way supplies.
   * Don't drink and drive, or let anyone you know do so.
