Official UD license plate coming to a car near you

The official state of Delaware/University of Delaware license
plate is available, and the University is now accepting mail-in bids
for these coveted blue and gold plates.
"We are very excited that graduates, students, parents and other
friends of the University of Delaware will be able to show their
spirit by putting it on their license plates," President David P.
Roselle said.
The special plates include the interlocking UD at the left of the
number, with the words "University of Delaware" across the bottom.
Persons interested in mailing in bids for a plate should send
them to the Office of Alumni and University Relations. Minimum bid is
$100. Mail-in bids must be postmarked no later than Feb. 9 and bids
should include name, complete address, daytime telephone number, plate
number requested and the bid amount.
A live auction will be held after the Blue Hen men's basketball
game on Sunday, Feb. 18, at the Bob Carpenter Center, with the mail-in
auction bids serving as the starting bids. All bidding will be
competitive, with the desired plate going to the highest bidder,
whether it be by mail bid or in person.
Individuals may bid for the plate of their graduation date, such
as UD44 or UD1960. They also may bid for low-number plates, which are
sure to become collector's items. Another option is to create a plate
with the letters UD followed by up to four numbers. No apostrophes or
additional letters are permitted.
Proceeds from the license plate auction will benefit student
scholarships and other University programs.
The plates are available to Delaware residents only.
