Technology is topic of institute

     Teaching, Learning and Technology" is the topic of the Winter
Institute for faculty, teaching assistants and others who teach at the
University, to be held from Jan. 8-12. Presentations, faculty
demonstrations and small-group, hands-on classes will be offered.
     The Jan. 8 general session will begin at 8:30 a.m. with
registration and refreshments and a welcome by Margaret Andersen, vice
provost for academic affairs. At 9:15 a.m., Delia Neuman, associate
professor in the College of Library and Information Services at the
University of Maryland, will deliver a keynote address, "What's Love
Got to Do with IT (Information Technology)?" A second address will
follow at 10:30 a.m. by Edward F. Redish, physics professor at the
University of Maryland, on "Teaching with the Web: Today and
Tomorrow." These talks will be followed Jan. 8-9 by a series of
demonstrations on teaching and technology by UD faculty.
     These general sessions, scheduled in Room 120 of Smith Hall, are
open to the public and the UD community.
     In addition, computing classes will be held Jan. 9-12. Advance

     Multimedia seminars will be held Jan. 8-12 and also are open to
the business community and to participants from other schools for a
