Native American to discuss issues
     Charles Clark IV, assistant chief of the Nanticoke Tribe, will
present a program on "An Indian's Perspective on Native American
Issues" at 3:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 8, in Room 116 Purnell Hall.

Alumni perform in local concerts
     Three recent graduates of the Department of Music will perform in
concert at the Newark United Methodist Church on Main Street.
     Soloists Barbara Boyle Tobler, soprano, Delaware '92; Gary
Seydell, tenor, Delaware '91; and Steven Combs, baritone, Delaware
'88, will perform in Saint-Saens' Christmas Oratorio at 3 p.m.,
Sunday, Dec. 17.
     Also performing will be the Newark United Methodist Church
Chancel Choir, directed by Betsy Kent, director of music at the
church. During the soloists' undergraduate years at the University,
Kent accompanied all three performers.
     David Herman, music department chairperson, will accompany the
performance on the Casavant organ.
     Tobler currently is pursuing a master's degree at the University
of Tennessee at Knoxville. Seydell is completing a master's degree in
vocal performance at the University of Cincinnati College
Conservatory. Combs, who received his master's degree from the
University of Minnesota, made his Metropolitan Opera debut in 1991.

Concert to help Toys for Tots
     Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in the Carpenter
Sports Building for a benefit concert for Toys for Tots.
     Music will be provided, until 11:30 p.m., by Fossil, Groove
Palace, Tweed, Orion Coalition, Penny Dreadful and others.
     The event is sponsored by Kappa Delta Rho, Kappa Delta and WVUD.
     Tickets at the door are $8 for students with UD ID and $10 for
the general public.
