'Harry and Larry' program will return to SLTV Dec. 14

Tune in to the second segment of the The Harry and Larry Show,
which will appear on SLTV for the first time on Dec. 14 for a look at
some of the issues facing today's college students. This is part of
the What in the Hall series, produced by residence life.
"The underlying idea of the show is to portray some of the real-
life situations students encounter and to treat them in a meaningful
way," according to Rob Longwell-Grice, assistant director of residence
life, who coordinates the series.
The first show, which aired this fall, dealt with having a
roommate whose steady girlfriend is constantly on the scene. The new
show deals with helping a roommate who has broken up with a boyfriend
and uses alcohol to cope.
The Harry and Larry Show is written by Richard Gaw, publications.
"The format is to plunge right into the action and the problem, and at
the end, to offer some direction and suggestions as to how students
can handle the problem in question," Gaw said. "For example, in the
second episode, we have asked Janice Jordan of the counseling center
to talk about the services the center offers and to give other
suggestions about coping with break-ups and alcohol."
Another goal of the series is to involve students as actors,
directors and camera operators for future films, Longwell-Grice said.
With some starting help from a communication student, he had to learn
how to direct, produce and shoot film through hands-on experience
during the filming of the show. Now he encourages interested students
to become a part of the action and the fun. Anyone interested in
participating should contact him at 831-8423.
In the show, senior Brendan Hermes plays Larry, junior Brian
Chambers plays Harry, senior Veronica Rockett plays Marie and freshman
Jill Herold plays Charlene. The four students auditioned for the parts
last spring.
Other segments in the What in the Hall series deal with a variety
of subjects, including self-defense, car care and videos of different
residence hall programs. The show also has spots that encourage
students to attend sports events and support the Fightin' Blue Hens
teams.
