Campus caucuses and services

The University's Office of Affirmative Action and Multicultural
Programs and the Commission to Promote Racial and Cultural Diversity
support the efforts of campus caucuses and units that provide
assistance to members of underrepresented groups and address issues
and concerns that these various groups identify as significant. These
caucuses and services also assist members of search committees when
they host campus visits by underrepresented employees.

The caucus strives to play a role in promoting cultural diversity at
the University among faculty, staff and students. Its goal is to
provide an awareness of the different cultures of the people of Asian
and Pacific Islander origin, enhance fellowship among its members and
open dialog with local and state leaders, apprising them of concerns.

The mission of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Concerns Caucus is to
articulate, inform and advise the Commission to Promote Racial and
Cultural Diversity about issues of importance to the lesbian, gay and
bisexual communities at the University. It is the caucus' primary goal
to advocate for the well-being of these communities as they are
affected by University policies and procedures, as well as to promote
the acceptance of diversity and multiculturalism of all minority and
under-represented groups on the campus.

The commission represents all students, faculty and staff and its goal
is to improve the status of women in all University endeavors and
activities. An annual report is issued on the status of women at the
University, and the commission makes recommendations for changes in
policies, programs, procedures and hiring practices to achieve equity
for women.

FSSS and Cosmopolitan Club have been promoting multicultural diversity
for more than 25 years. The main purpose of the office and the
organization is to integrate foreign students into U.S. culture and,
at the same time, help educate students to the many cultures that are
represented on the UD campus. The ultimate goal is to assist both
populations to live and work together in harmony.
