Garden queries
During the fall and winter season, persons with home lawn, garden
and pest questions should call Cooperative Extension's Garden Line at
831-8862 and leave a message.
Master Gardener volunteers will return calls between 9 a.m.-
noon, Tuesdays.
Trustees meeting
The fall semiannual meeting of the University Board of Trustees
is scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Room 120 Clayton Hall.
Expanded hours
Hours of operation for the Harrington Computer Site have been
increased. New hours, that went into effect Nov. 26, are 9 a.m.-2
a.m., Mondays-Thursdays; 9 a.m.-6 p.m., Fridays; noon-6 p.m.,
Saturdays; and noon-2 a.m., Sundays.
Tree lighting
The annual Holiday Tree Lighting is scheduled at 5:45 p.m.,
Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the courtyard near Ewing and Kirkbride halls.
All members of the University community are invited to attend the
event that is sponsored by Circle K.
B&G special
The Blue and Gold Club is offering a burger and draft beer
special before Blue Hen basketball games. The $5.95 special is valid
in the Tavern from 4:30-7 p.m. on Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, 7, 9, 19 and 22.

Winter fitness
Registration for winter fitness programs begins at 7 a.m.,
Thursday, Dec. 7, in Carpenter Sports Building.
Registration forms are available at the Carpenter Sports Building
and the Harrington and Pencader fitness centers.
Stats competition
The Arthur E. Hoerl Statistics Award Competition, sponsored by
the Delaware chapter of the American Statistical Association, is open
to students enrolled in accredited graduate schools within the state.
A cash award of $300 will be given for the best paper on an
interesting application of existing or new statistical methods or the
development of a new method.
The deadline for submission is 4 p.m., Feb. 15. The prize will be
awarded at the organization's spring conference in Clayton Hall on
April 19.
The award honors the late Arthur Hoerl, who served as professor
of statistics at the University.
The awards committee is chaired by John H. Schuenemeyer.
