Richard Zipser is award recipient

     Richard Zipser, foreign languages and literatures, has received
the Delaware Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages' Foreign
Language Advocate of the Year award.
     Zipser was cited for his involvement with the organization, the
Delaware Foreign Language Advisory Council, the State Foreign Language
Standards Steering Committee and the State Foreign Language Standards
Commission, on which he serves as University co-chairperson.
     During his tenure at UD, Zipser has worked to increase the number
of students enrolling in foreign language classes and the number of
languages offered, and he helped to establish the Summer Institute for
foreign language teachers.
