Holiday dance program Dec.1
Carols in Color," described as an electrifying display of holiday
joy, will be presented at 8 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1, in Mitchell Hall.
The holiday dance musical celebration is inspired by Langston
Hughes' Black Nativity. A morning program, especially for public
school students, is scheduled at 10 a.m.
Conceived and directed by Leon Evans, the performance is a cross-
cultural, nondenominational, musically varied production. Performed
annually in Philadelphia, it follows the Gospel of Matthew, with
traditional carols and contemporary musical arrangements.
"Carols in Color" is performed by the young artists of ELEONE,
the Leon Adams Dance Theatre, known for its modern
ballet/spiritual/jazz style.
Advance tickets for the 8 p.m. performance are $12 for the
general public, $10 for University faculty and staff and $7 for
students. All tickets at the door cost $15. Morning tickets are
available for $7 per student, with a 20 percent discount available for
groups of 10 or more. For ticket information, call 831-2204 or 652-
0101.
The performance, part of the Performing Arts Series, is
cosponsored by the Center for Black Culture and the Christina Cultural
Arts Center.
