Open hearing
An open hearing will be held at 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, in 201
McDowell Hall to discuss a proposal to grant permanent status to the
major in foreign languages and literatures.
The event is being conducted by the Faculty Senate Committee on
Undergraduate Studies.
Copies of the proposal are available for review in the Department
of Foreign Languages and Literatures (324 Smith Hall), the Reserve
Room of the Morris Library and in the Faculty Senate Office (219
McDowell Hall.)
Hola party
The Hola club is sponsoring a party from 10 p.m.-1 a.m.,
Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Mirage restaurant on Elkton Road.
The event is an opportunity to practice Spanish and make new
friends.
Cost is $3 for nonmembers. Members are admitted free.
Islamic series
The Muslim Students Association is presenting the videotaped
lecture "Jesus and Muhammed: A Comparative Study," by Ahmed Deedat, at
6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 7, in 100 Kirkbride Lecture Hall.
The program is free and open to the public.
Triple B special
The Blue and Gold Club is offering a BBB Special, featuring a
tavern burger and draft beer for $5.95 before some of the Fightin'
Blue Hen men's and women's men's home basketball games.
The special is valid in the club's tavern from 4:30-7 p.m. on
Nov. 9, 29 and 30 and Dec. 2, 7, 9, 19 and 22.

Festival of Nations
The Cosmopolitan Club will present a Festival of Nations from 1-5
p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student
Center.
The event is free and open to the public.

Senior portraits
Senior portraits for The Blue Hen yearbook are being scheduled by
appointment from Oct. 30-Dec. 1. The schedule is posted outside the
yearbook office, at 305 Perkins Student Center.
There is a $5 sitting fee. The 1996 Blue Hen can be ordered for
$50 a copy.

Healthy holidays
"Eating Healthy for the Holidays" is the topic of a presentation
by Cooperative Extension master foods educators from 7-9 p.m.,
Wednesday, Nov. 29, in the office at 910 South Chapel St.
The program will provide helpful strategies to survive holiday
celebrations and tips for transforming traditional recipes into more
healthy food selections.

"Chipping Away at Fat," a fat-free tortilla chips taste test,
will be held from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 6, in the Morris
Library courtyard.
