Staff Assn. lunch
     The University Staff Association's first monthly luncheon will be
held from noon-1 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 20, in the Rodney Room of the
Perkins Student Center. The program will feature a scarf tying
demonstration and raffle.
     Cost of the event, featuring a potato bar menu, is $6.75. The
brown-bag lunch cost is $.25.


D.C. shuttle bus
     The Washington, D.C., shuttle to the Library of Congress and the
Folger for faculty and graduate students will operate on Fridays only
during the fall semester, beginning Sept. 1

Hospice training
     Delaware Hospice is seeking volunteers. The next training program
will begin in October.
     Those interested in contributing their time to Hospice will be
trained to act as relief caregivers, to help family members deal with
grief following the death of a loved one, to assist with workshops and
camps for children, to help with fundraising and community awareness
activities and to provide clerical, transportation and errand
assistance.

     University Bookstore hours are 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m., Thursday, Aug.
31; 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday, Sept.
2; closed, Sunday-Monday, Sept. 3-4; 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Tuesday-
Thursday, Sept. 5-7; 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8; 9:30 a.m.-3
p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9; closed, Sunday, Sept. 10; 9:30 a.m.-7 p.m.,
Monday-Wednesday, Sept. 11-13.
     Regular store hours, beginning Thursday, Sept. 14, are 9:30 a.m.-
6 p.m., Mondays-Fridays; and 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturdays. On Saturdays
of Delaware home football games, the bookstore will open at 9:30 a.m.
and close at 3 p.m.
     The last day for textbook refunds is Wednesday, Sept. 13.


Volunteer fair
     The College of Education's Center for Intercultural Teacher
Education and the Office of Clinical Studies are conducting a
volunteer fair from 3:30-5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the lobby
and Educational Resource Center of the Willard Hall Education
Building.
     Representatives of nearly 20 schools, recreational, social and
community organizations will be present to discuss their respective
operations and volunteer needs and opportunities.
     The fair is open to all student and representatives of campus
clubs and service organizations.

Lavender Scholars
     A meeting of the Lavender Scholars, a group of lesbian, gay and
bisexual faculty, staff and graduate students, will be held at 3 p.m.,
Thursday, Sept. 14, in 101 Old College.
     Discussion will focus on the upcoming lecture series that begins
Sept. 28, a noontime discussion group and social activities for the
coming year.

Prostate cancer
     An informational session on prostate cancer, entitled "It Is the
Size of a Walnut and Can Kill You," will be presented from noon-1
p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 13, in the Collins Room of the Perkins Student
Center.
     The program, to be presented by an American Cancer Society
volunteer, is sponsored by the UD Faculty and Staff Assistance Program
as part of its continuing Lunch and Learn series.

Parallel moves
     The University Parallel Program office at the Delaware Technical
and Community College in Dover has relocated to Room 214 of the Terry
Campus Building.

Musical night
     Musical Activities Night will take place from 6-10 p.m.,
Wednesday, Sept. 6, in  the Amy E. du Pont Music Building. Students
will be able to learn about participating in various campus musical
groups by meeting with faculty and students.

Dance lessons
     Two 10-week sessions of dance lessons, sponsored by the
University of Delaware Ballroom Dance Club, will be offered this fall.
     Instruction in swing, jitterbug, cha cha, tango and other dances
will be offered from 8:15-9:15 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning
Sept. 12 and 14, in Pearson Hall gymnasium.
     Cost is $25 for students and $50 for others.
     Private instruction also is available at the rate of $20 per hour
or $50 for three hours.

Fellowship meetings
     The University Intervarsity Christian Fellowship will meet
regularly, beginning Sept. 8, at 7 p.m., Fridays, in several

Library hours
     Morris Library hours through Sept. 4 are 8 a.m.-midnight,
Thursday, Aug. 31; 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 1; 1-5 p.m., Saturday,
Sept. 2; closed Sunday and Monday, Sept. 3-4.
     Not all service desks will be open Saturday, Sept. 2. Special
Collections and Exhibition Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Thursday-
Friday.
