Michael Colyar in Comedy Explosion
Comedian Michael K. Colyar, seen in such popular movies as Hot
Shots Part Deux, Poetic Justice, Kangaroo Court and House Party III,
headlines the Comedy Explosion and Block Party, planned by the Center
for Black Culture at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 9, in Pearson Hall
auditorium.
The comedy concert, which also features Sheryl Underwood and
Jemmerio, is part of the center's Icebreaker Weekend.
Colyar began his career as a street comic in Chicago and refined
his craft over the years on the boardwalk of Venice Beach, Calif. He
first drew national attention as a $100,000 grand prize-winner on Star
Search.
Sheryl Underwood is known as one of the boldest and most brazen
women in comedy. She dares to discuss sex, politics, current events
and relationships in a style reminiscent of Jackie "Moms" Mabley, Redd
Foxx and Richard Pryor.
Jemmerio was known as the consummate class clown at Harper High
School in Atlanta. Taking that love of comedy and acting, he attended
the Barbizon School of Modeling, which led to roles in two long-
running television series, Matlock and In the Heat of the Night.
Tickets to see the three comedians are $10 for the concert only
and $13 for the concert and after-concert party if purchased in
advance.
Concert-only tickets will be available at the door for $15.
