Career expo attracts hundreds of visitors

The guided campus tour shown at right was just one of several
activities held during a Business and Engineering Career Expo for
prospective students and their parents Oct. 15 on campus.
Area representatives from businesses and industries that hire
graduates of the colleges of Business and Economics and Engineering
were invited to meet with the visitors and to acquaint them with their
companies and the career opportunities in different fields.
Forty representatives from 25 companies were present at the
career expo, which was attended by 239 students and 529 parents.
The College of Engineering expo was held in Mitchell Hall, and
the College of Business and Economics convened in Smith Hall. The
ceremonies involved remarks by President David P. Roselle; with Bruce
Walker, associate provost, admissions and student financial aid; and
Stuart L. Cooper, dean of Engineering; Kenneth Biederman, dean of
Business and Economics; Susan J. Foster, vice president for
information technologies; and Louis L. Hirsh Sr., associate director
of honors program admissions.
Staff from admissions, the University Honors Program, the Career
Services Center, financial aid, information technologies, ROTC and
each college also were present to greet students and answer questions.
After students and parents talked to representatives of the
companies represented at the expo, campus tours were held.
