Alumna receives NCAA state honors

Former University of Delaware softball player Kari Manlove was
named the 1993-94 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA)
Woman of the Year for the state of Delaware.
A 1994 graduate with a degree in fitness management, Manlove was
one of 51 student-athletes from each state and the District of
Columbia honored by the NCAA.
     A two-year letter-winner, Manlove led the Blue Hens in 1994 to a
school record for wins in a season. She won Delaware's Eastern College
Athletic Conference Medal of Merit last spring and also was named to
the GTE/College Sports Information Directors of America District II
Academic All-America team.
The University is one of six NCAA Division I schools that have
had an athlete earn the NCAA Woman of the Year award each of the four
years the award has been presented.
Previous Delaware winners were field hockey/lacrosse player Jill
Hershey in 1991, tennis player Tara Finnegan in 1992 and swimmer Liz
Coogan in 1993.
