Rwanda relief campaign to be extended through end of month

     The Rwanda relief campaign, established in August by the
University of Delaware African-American Coalition (UDAAC), has met
approximately half its $10,000 goal, and the campaign has been
extended to Oct. 31.
     UDAAC organizers said their goal is to help assist, through the
International Red Cross, those in desperate need of immediate life-
sustaining and medical assistance.
     The UDAAC representatives said they hope people will realize that
the crisis in Rwanda continues and that it will have far-reaching
effects on the people in that and neighboring countries.
     The International Red Cross estimates that 20,000 metric tons of
food are needed each month for the Rwanda relief effort, and the
situation in the country is so extreme that it requires immediate and
continued commitment of donations.
     More than 150 donations have been received by UDAAC. Other
members of the campus community interested in making a contribution
should send a check, made payable to American Red Cross with a
notation for "Rwanda Relief," to any one of the following UDAAC
members: Pat Davis, information technologies, 192 South Chapel St.;
Joyce Hart, College of Business and Economics, 228 Purnell Hall;
Darlene Sharp, labor relations, 87 East Main St.; Virginia Tomlinson,
media services, 308 Pearson Hall; or Jackie Caleb, cashier, 117
Student Services Building.
