Money management
Benefits Services is sponsoring a one-hour, money-manager
workshop for members of the University community.
The sessions will be presented by Tim Detwiler, finance, in the
Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center at 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 3; at
noon, Tuesday, Oct. 4; and at noon, Thursday, Oct. 6.

Holiday break
The 1994 end-of-the-year holiday break will begin at 5 p.m.,
Friday, Dec. 23. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m., Monday, Jan. 3. More
specific details will be presented in future issues of UpDate.
Grant proposals
The Research Office is now accepting applications for its General
University Research Program, open to full-time faculty and
professional staff in the areas of the arts, humanities and social
sciences.
The maximum award for a GUR project is $6,000. Faculty stipends
under these grants are limited to $5,000, or one-ninth of the academic
year salary, whichever is less.

applications to department chairs is Monday, Oct. 24. Grants will be
awarded in February.
Health Fair
A Breast Cancer/Health Fair will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.,
Tuesday, Oct. 18, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center.
The program will include panel discussions, information on breast
examination, risk factors and information on services available to
those who are diagnosed with the most common form of cancer in
American women.
The program is co-sponsored by Student Health Services, the
Office of Women's Affairs, Wellspring, Residence Life and the Faculty
and Staff Assistance Program.

Nursing Career Day
The Career Services Center is holding its annual Nursing Career
Day at Clayton Hall from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 25. Twenty-
nine different hospitals, rehabilitation centers and governmental
health organizations will be represented.

B&G family night
The Blue and Gold Club will serve a family-night buffet from 5-8
p.m., Thursday, Oct. 6, in the main dining room. Cost is $10.95 per
adult and $5.95 for children aged 5 to 11. The buffet is free for
children under 5.

Conflict resolution
A conflict management and resolution strategies workshop, open to
students, faculty and University employees, will be held from 8:30
a.m.-4:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 26; Monday, Nov. 14; and Friday, Dec.
9, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center.
The Welcoming Diversity workshop is a pre-requisite for
registration in the conflict management workshop and pre-registration

5K for Mission
The fifth annual 5K for Mission is scheduled for 9 a.m.,
Saturday, Oct. 8, in Newark. Participants may run or walk the course,
which begins and ends at St. Thomas' Episcopal Church at the corner of
South College Avenue and West Park Place.
The race is a benefit for Habitat for Humanity, a not-for-profit
ecumenical housing organization that builds and rehabilitates homes
with the help of volunteers and home recipients.
Registration is $10 through Saturday, Oct. 1, and $12 after that
date. Full-time University of Delaware students receive a $1 discount.
Cash prizes will be awarded to winners in several categories, and
random giveaways will take place throughout the day. All participants
receive a T-shirt and a post-race buffet.

Historical play
The Delaware Heritage Commission and Bureau of Delaware State
Museums will present the play The Tryal of William Penn and William
Mead, to be performed at noon and 2 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 2, at the Old
State House in Dover. The play will be performed again in the Old
Courthouse in Georgetown at 10:30 a.m., noon and 3 p.m., Thursday,
Nov. 10.
The play is free of charge but reservations are encouraged. To
