Grants available from CTE
The Center for Teaching Effectiveness (CTE) offers grants to
departments and individuals who wish to design innovative and
imaginative projects that enhance, extend or change current teaching
practice.
The categories of grant proposals are individual improvement-of-
instruction grants; group grants to enhance instruction through
collegial efforts; technology grants to support innovative ways to
enhance teaching using technology; and instructional television (ITV)
classroom use.
Requests for instructional television classroom use are due by
Nov. 11 for '95 spring and fall semesters, and by May 5 for '95 fall
and '96 spring semesters.
The CTE Faculty Advisory and Technology Advisory boards are
interested in creative proposals which will lead to new and better
ways of teaching students.
Proposals should demonstrate how these projects will fulfill
department, college and University instructional goals.
This will be the only request for grant proposals issued this
year. The maximum award for all categories is $5,000.
For complete instructions, contact Virginia.Greene via e-mail
Virginia.Greene@mvs.udel.edu, or call 831-2027.
A small amount of funding also is available for instructional
supplement or travel grants.
Instructional supplement grants offer up to $500 for teaching
assistant development, honoraria, equipment or materials that
facilitate the introduction of a new idea or technique into a course.
These grants are intended as seed money. It is expected that
successful outcomes that require ongoing funds will be continued by
departments.
Travel grants provide up to $300 (average is $150) for travel to
conferences that focus on teaching in a discipline or higher
education. This grant is intended to fund individuals who are
investigating the process of teaching and learning in a particular
discipline or in university settings in general.
To apply for either of the last two grants, send a memo or e-mail
to CTE showing how requested funds will contribute to improvement of
undergraduate or graduate instruction. Include a budget outline.
Proposals for these grants are reviewed monthly on a rolling basis
until funds are expended.
