Ready to roll
Teaming up for the annual Bike to the Bay event Oct. 1 and 2,
benefiting the national and state Multiple Sclerosis Society, are
University Derailleurs (from left) Alison Hoke, publications; Beth
Miller, systems security and access; Jerry Hendricks, plant and soil
sciences; Kate Webster, Users Services; John DiVincenzo, graduate
student, soil chemistry; and Marie Severns, intercollegiate athletics.
According to Hendricks, this year, about 20 cyclists have
expressed interest, and each participant will raise a minimum of $150.
Everyone from the University community is encouraged to participate,
either by wheeling down the road or by pledging support to the bikers.
Bike to the Bay leaves Smyrna High School early Oct. 1. Riders
travel back roads to Dewey Beach, and will make the return trip the
following day.
The deadline for joining the team is Sept. 23, but late entries
are permitted. To join, to make a pledge or for information, call
Hendricks at 831-1391.
