SERVICE AND AWARDS
     
     Several members of the Department of Theatre have been involved
     in service activities: Joann Browning was appointed membership
     chairperson of American Dance Guild, member of the standards,
     promotion and tenure committee of the Association of Theatre
     Movement Educators and member of the visual and performing arts
     curriculum framework commission, Delaware Department of Public
     Instruction; Catherine Fitzmaurice served as theatre and opera
     grant review panelist for Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural
     Affairs; Deborah Rooney served as visiting guest teacher at Shue-
     Medill Middle School, Christina School District; and Julia Tsalis
     served as publicity coordinator for Baltimore Shakespeare
     Festival's inaugural season during the summer.
     
     Lisa Miller, Cooperative Extension, was awarded a first place
     national prize for the Delaware Ag News, a bimonthly state-wide
     publication, from the National Association of County Agricultural
     Agents.
     
     Nancy King, University Honors Program, received 1994
     Distinguished Book Award from American Alliance for Theatre and
     Education, for her book Story making and Drama: An Approach to
     Teaching Language and Literature.
     
     Six retiring professional members of Cooperative Extension will
     be honored with a reception and dinner at the Sheraton Inn in
     Dover on Nov. 11. They are Doris Crowley, Claudia Holden, Gerald
     Vaughn, Frank Webb, Tom Williams and Dave Woodward.
     
     Bernard Herman, art history, received the Abbott Lowell Cummings
     Award of the Vernacular Architecture Forum for his book, The
     Stolen House.
