Ag Field Day
Sussex County master gardeners will be available to answer home
gardening questions at the University's Farm and Home Field Day from
8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the Agricultural Research
and Education Center, west of Georgetown on Route 9.
The master gardeners will showcase shade-loving plants, as well
as provide information on vegetable gardens, annuals, herbs, ground
covers and sunflower and geranium varieties, plus mulches and
container gardens.
The event also will include safety programs for children,
consumer exhibits and agricultural variety trails.

Library hours
Morris Library hours from Aug. 12-29 are 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Mondays-
Fridays; 1-5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 26-27; and closed
Saturdays and Sundays, Aug. 12, 13, 19 and 20.
Special Collections and Exhibition Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-
5p.m., Mondays-Fridays.
Grant proposals
The Center for Teaching Effectiveness offers grants to
departments and to individuals who wish to design innovative and
imaginative projects that enhance, extend or change current teaching
practice.
The three categories of grant instruction include improvement of
instruction, use of new technology and use of instructional television
in the classroom.
The maximum award for all these categories is $5,000. Grants for
improvement of instruction are due Oct. 11. Other grant categories,
including instruction supplements (up to $500) and travel supplements
(up to $300) are also available.
