Scots visit Wilmington academy

A friendly invasion from Scotland took place at the University this
month when 27 students from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow joined
the more than 200 students at the Academy of Lifelong Learning during the
week of July 10-14 for a series of lectures and classes based on different
aspects of the 20th century. The Scottish students were housed in
Christiana Towers.
Several special events were planned for the visitors, including trips
to Winterthur Museum, Longwood Gardens, Philadelphia and a dinner at the
Blue and Gold Club with a program by Ray Callahan, director of the Master
of Arts in Liberal Studies Program at the University. There also were
dinners, hosted by academy members in their homes.
The program concluded with a weekend in Gettysburg before the group's
departure on July 18. Plans are under way for a future exchange visit from
academy students to Strathclyde.
