Francaise of Wilmington and Southern Delaware, an organization that
promotes French culture and language.
Alice K. Cataldi, adminstrative coordinator of the University's Summer
Institute for Foreign Language Teachers, serves as chairperson of the
alliance's pedagogy committee, and through her efforts, the local alliance
received a grant from the national organization.
The grant, plus funds from the local branch, provided stipends for
French teachers studying at the institute this summer.
The institute offers intense courses in German, French and Spanish
leading to master's degrees. The theme this year is "Focus on the Child,"
with an emphasis on teaching language to elementary school students.
