Music Matters sets four workshops
From June 25 through July 1, four training workshops for adults
involved in music education will be offered at the University by Music
Matters, a publishing company devoted to the musical education of young
people.
The sessions will feature demonstrations that involve children and
their parents.
Teachers include Jill Hannagan, founder and director of the University
of Delaware Community Music School; Linda Robinson, a teacher trainer,
lecturer and conference clinician; and Dee Coulter, a neurological studies
consultant and lecturer.
Music Matters is seeking children between the ages of 18 months and 6
years of age to participate in these demonstration classes, which are free
of charge for the children and their parents.

TA conference to begin Aug. 21
All teaching assistants and graduate students who teach are invited to
assist with the 1995 TA Conference, Aug. 21-22, sponsored by the Center for
Teaching Effectiveness.
There are opportunities to be a panelist, share expertise, help with
registration and meet new TAs. Lunch will be provided.

Cultural events set this summer
Several major cultural events are scheduled this summer on campus.
Amy Guggenheim will present a one-person theatrical presentation of
"Objects in the Mirror Are Closer Than They Appear" at 8 p.m., Thursday,
June 29, in Mitchell Hall.
Cephas and Wiggins, "Ambassadors of the Blues," will perform on guitar
and harmonica at 8 p.m., Thursday, July 13, in Loudis Recital Hall of the
Amy E. du Pont Music Building.
Cost for each of these performances is $8 for the general public; $5
for UD staff, senior citizens and students. Tickets will be available at
the door.
A preview performance by the Jazz Tap Ensemble, featured company of
the 1995-96 Dance on Delaware Tour, will be presented at noon, Friday, July
14, in Pearson Hall auditorium. There is no admission charge.

Art exhibition in Clayton Hall
During the month of July, the oil paintings of Isabel Barksdale
Maynard of Alabama will be displayed in Clayton Hall.
Maynard's works are held in corporate and private collections
throughout the South. Her work is discussed-and one of her paintings,
"River Street, Savannah River," featured-in the June issue of American
Artist Magazine.
The display will run from July 1-30, and a reception will be held from
5-7 p.m., Friday, July 7, in Clayton Hall. Both are free and open to the
public.
Clayton Hall gallery hours are from 8:30-5 p.m., Monday-Friday.
