Kathryn L. Kotula, food science, appointed scientific adviser to
National Broiler Council and will advise them on science-based
issues of food safety and media relations.
Thomas Melvin, library, elected to a three-year term as vice
president/president-elect and John Brunswick Sr., library, has
been elected to a two-year term as secretary of the Delaware
Library Association.
Suzanne Nanis, Information Technologies, received a merit award
from the Society for Technical Communication for her entry,
"Using Electronic Communication on UNIX Systems."
Beth Thomas, public relations, received a First State
Communications Award for feature writing from the International
Association of Business Communicators (IABC). Her winning story
on Otto Fad, UD alumnus and animal trainer at Sea World, appeared
in The Messenger, the University's alumni publication. The
Messenger, which is edited by Cornelia Weil, public relations,
also received a merit award for outstanding achievement from the
IABC.
