Two seniors recognized for achieving 4.0 grade index
Two graduating seniors were honored at Commencement for achieving
a 4.0 cumulative grade index, upon completion of seven consecutive
semesters at the University.
Recognized by Delaware Gov. Thomas R. Carper were Surita R.
Bhatia and Eric A. Nauman.
Bhatia, the daughter of Dr. Kamlesh K. Bhatia and Kanak R. Bhatia
of Newark, is a chemical engineering major with a mathematics minor
and received her degree with distinction.
Her honors include the Barry M. Goldwater Fellowship for
Undergraduate Research and the Robert L. Pigford Award, as well as Phi
Kappa Phi National, National Science Foundation and DuPont Graduate
fellowships. In the fall, she will pursue her Ph.D. in chemical
engineering at Princeton University.
Nauman, the son of Douglas and Susan Nauman, formerly of Seaford
and now of Wilton, Iowa, has completed more than 200 credit hours at
the University, with a 4.0 average. A mechanical engineering major,
with minors in mathematics and Japanese, he is a Science and
Engineering Scholar, an Honors Program student and recipient of the
Sharp Award. As a recipient of the Alexander J. Taylor Award, he led
the delegation of alumni delegates during the Commencement ceremony.
He will pursue a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering at the
University of California.
