Barbara Sheer receives award

     Barbara Sheer, assistant professor and director of the
University's Family Nurse Practitioner Program, has received the 1995
American Academy of Nurse Practitioners' State Award for Excellence.
     The award was given May 23 at a College of Nursing event honoring
its first graduating class of family nurse practitioners. Debra
Dempsey, a class member and Delaware state representative to the
academy, made the presentation.
     Sheer was honored for her diligence and initiative in setting up
the college's new program and for her  concern and support for nurse
practitioner students. In addition, Sheer is involved in legislative
issues affecting nurse practitioners in the state and nationally.
