Public Safety reassigned to employee relations vp
The Department of Public Safety will report to the vice president
for employee relations, effective July 1, University President David
P. Roselle announced today.
"The unit is being reassigned to better integrate the provision
of safety, enforcement and discipline into overall campus life,"
Roselle said.
"To attain that goal, Maxine Colm, vice president for employee
relations, will work with Roland Smith, vice president for student
life, who has responsibility for the student judicial system," he
said.
Colm directs the Campus Diversity Office, which includes the
offices of Affirmative Action, Multicultural Programs and Women's
Affairs, as well as the employment, benefits, labor relations and
training programs offered by Employee Relations.
Public Safety, which is composed of University Police and
Security, has reported to John T. Brook, vice president for government
and public relations. The offices of Government Relations, of
Occupational Health and Safety and of Public Relations continue to
report to Brook.
The Department of Public Safety is composed of University Police,
which includes officers assigned to patrol, investigative and
supervisory duties on the Newark, Wilmington and Lewes campuses, and
