Student honored by ASM chapter
Matheswaran Marudachalam, a doctoral student in materials science
at the Institute for Energy Conversion, received the C. Ernest
Birchenall Award, honoring the late distinguished professor of
metallurgy and chemical engineering, at the annual joint meeting of
the University Student chapter and the Brandywine Valley chapter of
ASM International during Students' Night in March.
For the competition, interested students submit abstracts of
presentations they wish to make. Finalists are selected for oral
presentations during Students' Night.
Marudachalam spoke on "Processing and Characterization of CuIn1-
xGaxSe2 Films for Photovoltaic Applications."
Kristie Immordino, who is in the master's program in materials
science, was a finalist in the competition and spoke on "Strength and
Durability of Steel/Composite Bonds for Infrastructure
Rehabilitation."
