Employee annual giving off to good start

The 1995-96 Employee Campaign is off to a good start with more
than 100 faculty and staff members pledging or contributing gifts
totaling $44,400, as of May 18.
"Like so many of our alumni and friends, our faculty and staff
invest wisely in people and programs at the University of Delaware,"
Charles M. Forbes, vice president for development and alumni
relations, said.
"Employees are a special constituency. Many are alumni, and
others are parents of alumni and students," he said.
According to Joseph W. Bradley, director of annual giving,
"Donors can choose to support programs important to them. Individual
faculty and staff have varied interests. Some will support a
particular academic unit. Others prefer supporting areas such as the
Employee Fitness Center, student scholarships or the Marching Band."
Employees can choose payroll deduction, quarterly pledge
payments, outright gifts paid in full with check or credit card or
direct, electronic transfer of funds from a checking or savings
account.
Gwen Davis, executive secretary in the admissions office, finds
payroll deduction convenient. "Writing one large check can be
difficult, but small donations throughout the year add up to a good
amount. I work with colleagues every day to help students realize
their dreams, and I appreciate the opportunity to help in another
important way."
Forbes said the fiscal year 1995-96 campaign runs from July to
June. "We mail brochures before July to give employees time to sign up
before the new fiscal year begins. If employees are not yet ready to
contribute, they can sign up now through payroll deduction but delay
their gift. Another option is to sign up later in the year," he said.
Employee brochures and pledge cards are available from the Annual
Giving Office. For further information, call 831-2104.
