Do you know the answer?
My computer has a virus on it. I should:
A. Erase all my files, re-format the hard disk and re-install the
operating system and all software from original diskettes.
B. Use virus disinfecting software to clean up my system.
C. Check, and, if necessary, disinfect all diskettes I have used
recently, including back-up copies of my files.
D. Notify anyone with whom I have shared diskettes; notify site
directors of any University site where I have used a diskette
recently.
E. B and C above.
F. B, C, and D above.
The best answer is F. If you chose A, you recognized the seriousness
of the situation, but over-reacted. It is the combination of
disinfecting, repairing any damage and notifying others that will stop
the virus from spreading further.
