Researcher's writing recognized
Lynn Snyder-Mackler, assistant professor of physical therapy,
will be honored by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
with the Golden Pen Award for 1995 at a ceremony June 25 in
Washington, D.C. This annual award acknowledges her writing skills in
articles that have been published in the journal Physical Therapy.
In 1994, she was the winner of the APTA's Eugene Michels New
Investigator Award, presented to an individual for demonstrating a
commitment to a defined research theme. It was the second consecutive
years that a UD faculty member was recipient of this award. Stuart
Binder-Macleod, associate professor of physical therapy, received the
Michels award in 1993.
Snyder-Mackler teaches several classes, including orthopedics and
a component of electrotherapeutics. Her research centers around the
recovery of patients with knee ligament injuries, especially the
anterior cruciate ligament. It is a common knee injury, usually
suffered by those involved in collision sports.
