Professor named fellow of communication society

R John Brockmann, associate professor of English, has been named
a fellow of the Society for Technical Communication (STC).
One of eight communicators to be selected as a fellow this year,
Brockmann was cited for his many contributions to the literature of
technical communication; for distinguished achievement as a university
teacher of business and technical writing; and for sharing his
knowledge and expertise with STC members at conferences, seminars and
chapter meetings.
A fellow is the highest rank the society can confer upon a
member.
Brockmann received his master of arts degree in English language
and literature from the University of Chicago in 1975 and his
doctorate in 1981 from the University of Michigan, where he majored in
composition pedagogy with an emphasis on technical writing.
Before joining the UD faculty, he was an assistant professor at
Arizona State University's College of Engineering and Applied Science
and at Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, N.Y.
The Society for Technical Communication is the world's largest
professional organization serving the technical communication
profession. STC has more than 18,000 members and 145 chapters
worldwide.
