Basic contracts seminar Oct. 5
     "Contracts 101," a two-hour seminar on basic principles of
contracts sponsored by the University's Small Business Development
Center and Wilmington Women in Business, will be held from 8-10 a.m.,
Wednesday, Oct. 5, in Room 236 of Purnell Hall.
     Barbara Necarsulmer, assistant director of the Small Business
Development Center, and attorney Anne Bookout will speak on the basic
principles of contracts for both personal and business use. Topics
will include elements of a contract, how to form a contract, rights of
the consumer, when to consult an attorney and what you can do when a
contract goes sour.
     Cost is $15, and registration deadline is Monday, Sept. 26.

Live to perform at Carpenter Center
     The University's Student Center Program Advisory Board (SCPAB)
and the Discover(r) Card College Concert Series will present the popular
band Live, direct from Woodstock II, at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 4, in
the University's Bob Carpenter Center.
     Tickets, now on sale, are $20 for the general public, $10 for
full-time undergraduates (limit of four and a valid UD#1 CARD
required) and $15 for other members of the University community with
valid UD#1 CARD. A ticket service charge may apply.
     Tickets are on sale at the Perkins Student Center box office from
noon-8 p.m., weekdays, and 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturdays.
     Tickets also are on sale at the Bob Carpenter Center box office.

Cuban jazz set in Mitchell Hall
     Cuban jazz trumpeter Arturo Sandoval will perform at 8 p.m.,
Thursday, Sept. 29, in Mitchell Hall, the opening of the University's
1994-95 Performing Arts Series.
     Nursed on Latin rhythms, he started playing classical trumpet at
the age of 12, studying European classical music and American jazz.
     He met jazz master Dizzy Gillespie in the '70s and became his
protege performing in Gillespie's United Nations Orchestra.
     Currently, Sandoval is promoting  I Love Clifford, an album
inspired by Clifford Brown, the 25-year-old jazz trumpeter
extraordinare from Wilmington, who died in a car accident in 1956.
     Sandoval also will hold two master classes on Wednesday, Sept.
28: at 2 p.m. in the Amy E. du Pont Music Building and at 7 p.m. at
the Christina Cultural Arts Center in Wilmington.
     Tickets for his Sept. 29 concert are available as part of a
series package to the Performing Arts Series or individually at $15
for the general public, $10 for faculty, staff and senior citizens and
$6 for students.
