Blue & Gold buffet
     The Blue and Gold Club will offer an African-American Night
special buffet from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, May 4. Cost (including the
club's 12 percent service charge) is $12.95 for adults, $5.95 for
children 5-11 and free for children under 5.

Take Back the Night
     Delta Gamma sorority and the Office of Women's Affairs will
sponsor the annual Take Back the Night candlelight walk around campus,
along with a program of speakers, beginning at 9 p.m., Tuesday, May 2,
on Harrington Beach.
     The program is designed to heighten awareness of violence against

Lavender scholars
     The Lavender Scholars, a group of lesbian, gay and bisexual
faculty, staff and graduate students, will meet  at 3:30 p.m., today,
in 101 Old College to discuss plans for a gay scholars lecture series
during the upcoming academic year.

Temporary help
     The Purchasing Department has entered into a contract with Casey
Employment Services, 820 West St., Wilmington, as the University's new
outside temporary employment service. The contract, effective April 1,
will continue through March 1996.
     This contract is available for situations when Blue and Gold
Temps are not available. If a unit is in need of temporary employment
services, a representative should first check with Mary Ann Guns in
Employee Services at 831-2171.
     The company's contact person for the University is Rhonda Watson,
telephone 658-6461.
     Hourly rates under the new contract are secretary, $8.10;
secretary/wp, $9.43; PC/wp clerk, $9.30; receptionist, $7.80; and data
entry operator, $7.80.


Vacation planning
     The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is sponsoring a
"Vacation Planning" workshop at noon, Wednesday, May 10, in the
Kirkwood Room of the Perkins Student Center.
     Donna Friswell, of Charlie B./U.S. Travel, will provide
information on how to plan the best vacation for the money, notice
loopholes in bogus vacation advertisements and avoid pitfalls of
bargain vacations.
     Information also will be given on the latest hot spots in
vacation destinations.
     The program is part of the Lunch and Learn series offered
throughout the year. To register, call Darlene Sharp at 831-8308, by
May 5.


Outdoor pool
     The University of Delaware outdoor swimming pool will begin
accepting applications for 1995 memberships May 1 at the Blue Ice
Arena.
     The cost for University employee families is $135 for all members
declared as dependents and $70 for individuals with University ID, 13
or older. The cost for community families is $155 for the first four
members (and $10 for each additional member) and $80 for community
individuals, 13 or older.
     University ID and/or other qualifying documentation regarding
residence and dependency are required when applying for membership.
     The pool opens May 29 and closes Sept. 4.
