UD Research Foundation announces 1995-96 awards

     The University of Delaware Research Foundation has announced nine
1995-96 annual awards, totaling $265,431.
     Established in 1942 as the Haskell Research Associates, the
foundation supports fundamental research in all fields of science and
engineering and focuses on assisting junior faculty in research
projects in promising areas. The awards are determined by a committee
representing area industries.
     The nine award winners are
       * Moshen Badiey, marine studies, "Real-Time Measurements of
          Temperature and Salinity Profiles Across the Delaware Bay
          Using Acoustic Signals," $29,953;
       * Paul R. Berger, electrical engineering, "Silicon Germanium
          Carbon Alloy Based Heterostructure Devices," $29,973;
       * Tracy L. DeLiberty, geography, "Hydrologic Effects of
          Deforestation in the Amazon," $30,000;
       * Marlene G. Emara, animal science and agricultural
          biochemistry, "Characterization of Infectious Bronchitis
          Viral Epitopes Using Random Peptide Libraries," $28,874;
       * Marylin C. Huff, chemical engineering, "High Yield Oxidative
          Dehydrogenation of Alkanes in Membrane Reactors," $30,000;
       * Raul F. Lobo, chemical engineering, "Investigation of Li-
          exchanged Zeolite Rho for Methane Storage," $27,800;
       * Lucio Piccirillo, Bartol Research Institute, "Measurements of
          Anisotrophy and Polarization of the Cosmic Background
          Radiation," $29,000;
