New playground opens

     A new playground is delighting the children in residence at the
Conover Apartments complex, located at the corner of Elkton Road and
Amstel Avenue. Conover offers housing to graduate and undergraduate
students and their families, many from foreign countries and many with
children, according to Barbara Graham, assistant director of Housing
and Conferences Services.
     This spring, the old playground was torn down, and the lot was
cleared of a fence, weeds and some trees. A shock-absorbent ground
covering was laid, and swings and a multi-purpose play structure were
installed to offer children of all ages exercise and entertainment. It
took three days to install the new equipment, and on day four,
children were out in force, trying out their new playground, Graham
said.
