Renovations give new look in Clayton 101
Housing and Conference Services has renovated and refurbished
Clayton Hall Room 101, according to Don Diefendorf, assistant director
for warehouse and purchasing.
The room is one of the state's largest multipurpose conference
facilities and can accommodate 750 persons for dining and
approximately 1,000 for meetings or seminars. The room is used for
events, ranging from wedding receptions to academic conferences,
Diefendorf said.
Decorative fabric wall panels, framed in wood, and patterned
carpet have been installed. New, upholstered chairs have been selected
to blend with the room's decor. Attractive brass sconces with dimmers
provide varying levels of light.
Windows have been covered with sheer draperies and are equipped
with motorized shades with separate controls for audio/visual
presentations. Alcoves have been converted into closets for a neater,
less cluttered appearance.
According to Diefendorf, carrying out the project was no easy
task because the room is in constant demand. The only slack time was a
few weeks in January, when carpenters, electricians, painters,
plasterers and installers all worked in tandem to get the job done
quickly, with some work being done at nights.
