Interior secretary to speak on UD campus April 26
U.S. Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbit will present a speech
on environmental issues at noon, Wednesday, April 26, at a campus site
to be announced. In the event of rain, the program will be held in
Mitchell Hall.
According to an interior department spokesperson, Babbitt's
remarks will focus on the success of environmental legislation over
the past 25 years and the possible negative impact of legislation
currently being considered by the Congress.
The secretary's visit to UD is part of a regional tour he is
making at various colleges and universities.
According to Anna White, president of the Student Environmental
Action Coalition (SEAC), "The timing is perfect. It's nice to have
Secretary Babbitt here so close to the 25th anniversary of Earth Day."
The program is being sponsored by SEAC and the UD Wildlife
Conservation Club.
