Blue & Gold events
     The Blue and Gold Club's Family Night Buffet will be held from 5-
8 p.m., Thursday, April 20, in the Main Dining Room. The buffet is
$10.95 for adults, $5.95 for children ages 5-11 and free for children
under 5.
     A special buffet and extended lunch hours are planned during the
latter part of Secretary's Week. The buffet will be available from 11
a.m.-2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, in both the Main Dining Room and
in the Tavern for $7.50 per person. Lunch hours also will be extended
from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Thursday-Friday, April 27-28.

Staff Assn. luncheon
     The UD Staff Association luncheon will be held from noon-1 p.m.,
Thursday, April 13, in the Rodney Room of the Perkins Student Center.
The Little Crafty Farmhouse will present a craft demonstration, and a
raffle will be held.
     The menu, at $6.75, includes linguini with broccoli. Brown
baggers may attend for $1.25. Send a check, payable to the University
of Delaware, to Cindy Timko, Cooperative Extension, by April 7.


Call Garden Line
     Master gardeners are operating the Garden Line five days a week
from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
     A new computerized voice mail system has been added to help
handle calls and improve response time. Clients with questions on home
lawn, garden and pests may call the line at 831-8862 to leave a
message. A master gardener will return the call, and response time is
usually within three days.


Involving students
     "Strategies to Actively Engage Students in Lectures and Large
Classes" will be presented from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 18, in
119 Clayton Hall.
     Clyde Herreid, Distinguished Teaching Professor and academic
director of the University Honors Program at State University of New
York at Buffalo, will provide information on collaborative learning
strategies, including role playing, case studies, group test and
audience style interviewing.

'Balancing Act'
     "Balancing Act," a two-part program to help alleviate some of the
pressures associated with the competitive demands of balancing work
and personal life, will be presented by Donna Tuites, women's affairs.
     The first session, on Wednesday, April 12, in the Kirkwood Room,
will  focus on identifying personal priorities and clarifying values.
The second session, on Wednesday, April 26, also in the Kirkwood Room,
will provide information on achieving those priorities by using new
coping responses, saying "no" and developing support systems.
     Registration deadlines are April 10 for the first session and
April 24 for the second session.

Library hours
     Morris Library hours from April 6-May 11 are 8 a.m.-midnight,
Mondays-Thursdays; 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Fridays; 9 a.m.-8 p.m., Saturdays;
and 11 a.m.-midnight, Sundays.
     Special collections and exhibition gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5
p.m., Mondays-Fridays; and until 8 p.m., Tuesdays.

Winter in London
     An orientation session on "London plus Edinburgh," a 1996 Winter
Session Abroad program, will be held at 4 p.m., today, in 006 Warner
Hall.

Lavender scholars
     The Lavender Scholars, a group of lesbian, gay and bisexual
faculty, staff and graduate students, will meet at 3 p.m., Thursday,
April 13, to discuss a number of issues, including plans for a
lesbian, gay, bisexual studies lecture series, discussion group and
social activities.

Career planning
     A session to help students make the transition from the college
campus to the working environment will be conducted from 4-5:30 p.m.,
Wednesday, April 19, in 117 Pearson Hall.
     A group of panelists will offer information on work world
realities, relating to a boss and co-workers and special concerns of
women in the workforce.
     The session is sponsored by  Career Services Center and the

Diversity carnival
     "Celebrate the Diversity," a free, public festival, will be held
from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, April 8, in the Rodney Residence Halls
Courtyard.
     The event will feature food, live music and door prizes. For more

Walkers in training
     Training walks for WalkAmerica begin today. They are scheduled
from 4:45-5:15 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, meeting at the Perkins
Student Center and from 1:15-1:45 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays,
meeting at the Morris Library. Interested persons should come to the
first class and sign up with the instructor.
     Anyone pledging and walking the WalkAmerica event may participate
in the class at no charge. Regular cost is $10. The training walks
will help participants prepare for the April 30 event, which begins at
9 a.m. at Delaware Stadium.

Hall closings
     All students must move from campus residence halls by 10 p.m.,
Friday, May 26, with the exception of those students who are both
scheduled for a final examination during the evening of May 26 and who
have registered with their hall director or assistant area
coordinator.
     Graduating seniors who reside on campus must move from their
rooms no later than 5 p.m., Saturday, May 27.
     Faculty members who are conducting the last final examinations
should refer questions pertaining to residence hall closings to hall
directors or assistant area coordinators.


Benefit barbecue
     The Newark C.A.T. organization will hold a barbecue sandwich sale
to raise funds to support efforts to build a bypass around west
Newark.
     The event is scheduled from 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, April 8, at
176 West Main St., the home of C.A.T. members Stephen and Nancy
Turner. Dinners to go will be $5 each.
