Speakers offer sessions on coastal, ocean management

     Two resource managers who have been instrumental in shaping
national and regional policies for coastal will give talks as part of
the Marine Policy Seminar Series sponsored by the Center for the Study
of Marine Policy in the College of Marine Studies.
     Robert A. Tudor, program coordinator for the Delaware Estuary
Program, will present a talk entitled "A Management Plan for the
Delaware Estuary" on Thursday, April 13. The Delaware Estuary Program
is a cooperative local, state, and federal program charged with
preparing a comprehensive conservation and management plan for the
estuary. As program coordinator, Tudor leads the program's committees
through the process of developing the plan, oversees the program's
budget and prepares annual work plans.
     Jeffrey R. Benoit, director of the Office of Ocean and Coastal
Resource Management at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration, will speak on the topic "Creating a New Vision for
Coastal and Ocean Management" on Thursday, April 27. Benoit is
responsible for administering several national programs, including the
National Coastal Zone Management Program, the National Estuarine
Research Reserve Program, the National Marine Sanctuary Program, and
the Deep Seabed Mining Program.
     Both free, public talks will take place from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in
203 Robinson Hall. Informal receptions will be held following each
presentation on the third floor of Robinson Hall.
