Alumna Polly Weir named new director of conference services

Alumna Polly Weir has joined the UD staff as director of
conference services in the Office of Housing and Conference Services.
Formerly marketing director of the Holiday Inn Downtown and
general manager of the Christina House Hotel, both in Wilmington, Weir
brings both marketing and private business experience to her present
position.
For more than seven years, she and her husband, Bob, also owned
and operated BodyTech, a fitness facility in Wilmington.
In her new position, Weir said the emphasis will be on customer
service.
"We want to attract University of Delaware clients, as well as
business, corporate and private sector clientele to University
facilities," she said. "We want to sell the University of Delaware as
an attractive, full-service conference site with excellent staff and
facilities on all three campuses."
A University of Delaware graduate, Weir earned her master's
degree from the College of Urban Affairs and Public Policy in 1982.
Her undergraduate degree in English is from Ithaca College.
Weir's appointment is part of a reorganization program that began
last July, when the housing division of the Office of Housing and
Residence Life and the conferences division of Continuing Education
were moved to the Office of the Senior Vice President, and a new
department, the Office of Housing and Conference Services, was
organized.
Tim Miller, formerly assistant director of finance and
information services in housing, now serves as manager of budget and
information services for this new office, which includes:

and marketing, will work to expand the use of a wide variety of
campus facilities by the University and outside groups.
Conference managers at the three campuses are Patricia Hecker,
Newark; Laura Pugh, Wilmington; and Mike Mulrine, Lewes.
     * HOUSING AND CONFERENCE FACILITIES DIVISION: Ralph Johnson,
formerly associate director of housing, is director of this
division, which is responsible for the overall management of

housekeeping, maintenance, conference setups and building
       improvements.
Barbara Graham, formerly assistant director for housing, is
associate director, with responsibility for the day-to-day
management of the Newark campus housing staff and the overall
       management of conference facilities.
Mark Talmo, formerly housing custodial manager of the Laird
Campus, is facilities manager of the Wilmington campus.
Chuck Yetter continues as the facilities manager in Clayton
       Hall.
Mike Mulrine manages the Virden facility as well as the
       conference services program in Lewes.

Associate director for administration in the Office of Housing

space usage planning, publications and marketing.
