Seniors night buffet
     Every other Thursday, the Blue and Gold Club hosts a three-course
meal-including soup or salad, entree and sherbet or ice cream-for
senior citizens.
     Cost is $10. The next senior citizens' night will be held from 5-
8 p.m., Thursday, March 16. Call 831-2582 for reservations or more
information.


Record keeping
     The Delaware Small Business Development Center at the University
now offers a free record-keeping assistance program for small
businesses.
     The service is available, by appointment only, from 6-9 p.m.,
Mondays, beginning March 6, and is offered in conjunction with Beta
Alpha Psi, the accounting honor society.

AAUW award
     The Newark branch of the American Association of University Women
presents an annual award of $100, plus a one-year, at-large membership
in AAUW to an outstanding senior woman. Principal consideration is
given to academic achievement and leadership in service on the campus
and in the community. A minimum index of 3.25 is required.
     Deadline is March 24. Applications are available from the Office
of Women's Affairs, 305 Hullihen Hall.


Master foods course
     Applications are being accepted for Cooperative Extension's
Master Foods Educator volunteer program. The training provides 30
hours of instruction in the areas of foods, diet, health, food safety,
selection and preparation.
     Volunteers are asked to give back 40 hours of time by offering
workshops, responding to phone calls, writing educational materials
and participating in public extension programs.
     The program will be conducted from 9 a.m.-noon, Mondays and
Wednesdays from April 17-May 17, in 032 Townsend Hall. Applications
must be received by April 10.

Annual plant sale
     The third annual University of Delaware Botanical Garden (UDBG)
plant sale will be held from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, April 22, at
the Fischer Greenhouse Laboratory. Pre-sale pickup, for persons who
place orders by March 15, will run from 2-8 p.m., Friday, April 21.
     More than 200 types of trees, conifers, ferns and perennials will
be available at the sale. Information on the care of the plants also
will be provided.
     A catalog containing a list of plants and a pre-sale order form
are available in 153 Townsend Hall or by calling 831-1531.


Library policy
     Through March 17, an awareness program, "Save the Books: Don't
Eat and Drink in the Library," is being conducted in cooperation with
Dining Services.
     Since damage to library collections, services and facilities is
caused by food and drink, these items are not to be carried beyond the
glass doors of the Library Commons. Campus locations designed for a
combination of studying and snacking include the commons of the Morris
Library, study halls in Kent and Rodney Dining Halls and the
Harrington Commons atrium.


Seasonal advice
     A seminar on "Managing the Seasonal Business" is being offered
from 6:30-9:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 22, in 104 Cannon Laboratory at
the University's Hugh R. Sharp Campus in Lewes.
     The session will offer information to help local business persons
focus on the skills needed to succeed in a seasonal business. Topics
will include identifying customers, managing cash flow, labor laws and
dealing with banks.
     The program is sponsored by the University's Sea Grant College
Program, the Small Business Development Center and the Sussex County
Convention and Tourism Commission.
     Cost is $20, which includes seminar information and refreshments.
The registration deadline is March 17.
