Teaching center announces spring programs

The Center for Teaching Effectiveness will offer three programs
in the next several weeks: "Trading Places, "Reflections on Teaching:
Informal Conversations with Our Distinguished Alumni Professors" and
"Will That Be on the Final?"
"Trading Places" will offer information on the National Faculty
Exchange (NFE) program, which makes it possible for faculty,
professional and administrative staff to participate with other NFE-
member institutions in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Australia.
The program will be held from 3:30-5 p.m., Wednesday, March 15,
in the Ewing Room of the Perkins Student Center. It will be presented
by Margaret Andersen, vice provost for academic affairs; Maxine Colm,
vice president for employee relations; and faculty members.
"Reflections on Teaching: Informational Conversations with Our
Alumni Distinguished Professors" will be offered three times, all from
12:30-1:45 p.m. in the Perkins Student Center. Participants are
encouraged to bring a brown-bag lunch.
John Burmeister, chemistry and biochemistry, will be featured on
Tuesday, March 16, in the Kirkwood Room. Barbara Gates, English, will
meet with those in attendance on Friday, April 14, in the Ewing Room.
James R. Soles, political science and international relations, will be
featured on Thursday, May 4, in the Ewing Room.
"Will That Be on the Final?" is a two-part program to be
presented by William D. Schafer of the University of Maryland. The
programs will focus on testing, instructional goals, test models and
constructing and evaluating testing materials. Workshop one is a
prerequisite for those who want to attend part two.
These sessions will be presented from 1-4 p.m. Fridays, March 17
and April 7, both in Studio C, Pearson Hall. To register or for
additional information, send e-mail to Virginia.Greene@mvs.udel.edu.
