Book on relief airlifts cited

     Lt. Col. John L. Cirafici, chairperson of the Department of Air
Force ROTC, received the Air Force Historical Foundation's Col. James
Cannell Memorial Award for his book Airhead Operations: Where Air
Mobility Command Delivers, published by Air University Press.
     The book deals with humanitarian relief airlift operations, which
are frequently conducted in regions with limited accessibility and
infrastructure. Cirafici has had extensive experience as a military
commander of emergency airfield operations throughout the world,
including Zaire, Kuwait and Somalia among others.
     In his study, he addresses many of the problems and solutions for
making airlifts more effective and efficient.
